DOUGHERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WALB/Gray News) – A newborn child is one of eight people who were injured in a multi-vehicle crash involving an ambulance early Saturday morning.
A Dougherty County EMS ambulance rolled over in the collision just after 7 a.m. at the corner of Pine Avenue and Monroe Street.
According to Dougherty County EMS, three personnel and two patients were inside the ambulance at the time of the crash. The newborn was one of the patients.
Everyone involved in the crash is expected to survive, including the child, as authorities reported no life-threatening injuries.
Dougherty County EMS said that emergency protocols were followed immediately, and the patients were taken to the hospital for continued evaluation and care as a precautionary measure.
“We are grateful that no serious injuries occurred, and we appreciate the swift response of first responders at the scene,” Dougherty County EMS Director James Gibney said.
What caused the crash was not immediately shared by authorities. The Georgia State Patrol is currently investigating.
